“Not all those who wander are lost” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien.
One of the greatest gifts you can give oneself is travel is the gift of travel. Exhilarating is one of the words the can best describe the feeling you experience when traveling. The world is an open book if you are looking for a first-class education. Class will always be in session and available at your convenience, the most important material one needs is a valid passport and the ability to be present for every experience.

Now that she has acquired her pilot license I think that number may expeditiously increase.

As we stroll through Central Park admiring the beauty of this beautiful park that all New Yorkers have enjoyed at one time or another. It has also been a pivotal sightseeing point for visitors from around the world. Various events have taken place in the park that make it a gem to the city.
While Central Park continues to be enjoyed by countless people for a variety of reasons--what the vast majority may not know historically, it was home to so many people. In the 19th Century, the people that lived there were African Americans, Irish and German immigrants... Approximately, 300 hundred people lived in this community before its demise. New York City is said to have used eminent domain to seize Seneca Village which included schools, churches, and small businesses, to make way for the park we have today; while displacing the residents and virtually erasing them from history.
Why should that matter to us? As human beings we continue to evolve, grow, and learn. And it is through education of our past that allows us to build our future and give us the ability to build a legacy.
As a lover of history, I was astounded to learn about the history of Seneca Village, which is just one part of the wonderful exhibition at The Met: Before Yesterday We Could Fly: in the Afrofuturist Period Room that will amaze you.

Let me start by saying that Christian Dior has been credited with revolutionizing the modern fashion industry as we know it today. Born on January 21, 1905, in Granville, France.
His father was a wealthy fertilizer manufacturer--Louis Maurice Dior. He, like many of our parents or us as parents, very much set a path of success for our children. The reality is that ultimately our children will find their own way. And, that we must accept it.
Dior found his love in the arts--opening an art gallery that celebrated works by artists he loved such as George Braque, Salvador Dali, and Pablo Picasso to name a few. It is the arts where Christian Dior may have found his love, and passion for life. Clearly, The Gallery would become a success and with the financial support of his family, it thrived for a while. Christian Dior would not agree to participate in Politics which may have been a vision from his father--but nevertheless, he still invested in his son's gallery but was permitted to use the Dior name.
Tragedy Befalls Us All
While we may know the brand for only being successful. They faced their share of challenges; and like many other businesses that do not reach their initial goals and objectives. Christian transitioned from being a gallery owner, overcoming the loss of his parents and siblings and the demise of his family business, having to overcome a great depression--while trying to function through insurmountable trauma from a myriad of things that were out of his control and not of his doing. And, still, he rose to fame and gained the success many of us can only dream about. The world has celebrated this man, who is immortalized and considered one of the greatest in all of fashion history.

The Power of Collaborations
As the last quarter of the year rolls in, it spells out many things--it marks the end of the year and it is also preparing us to usher in the new year. Which means--new beginnings. But in business, the fiscal year will show where we stand in business, where we need room for improvements--our report card.
For the sake of this column, we are going to discuss how we can use the closing quarter as a reason to Mind Your Own Business. I mean it exactly how you are reading it--why should you use this time to sit and reflect on the last quarter of the year to reach your goals? How can you look back, see and review that list you created earlier this year and find out where you stand so you can fall back on a bed of leaves that will sprout new beginnings for your life and the longevity of your business.
My personal mission is to create an environment that is truly based on inclusion, diversity, and opportunity. I have been invited by many of the industry's most respected figures to speak on the subject I love the most--What Does Diversity and Inclusion Look Like Today. Yes, we are still talking about it, because this is not something that was going to be solved in 15 months because we were on lockdown. While many things have begun to change--so much work remains to be figured out.
